Michael Gordon Sherwood, age 74, of Saranac, Michigan passed away February 12, 
2021 in Grand Rapids. He was born in East Grand Rapids on March 26, 1946, the 
son of Gordon and Esther J. (White) Sherwood. He lived his whole life in the 
family home at 96 Center Street, Saranac. Shortly after graduating from Saranac 
High School with the class of 1965, he began working at the Keebler Company, 
which later became part of the Kellogg Company. Mike became known as the 
"Keebler Cookie Man."

Mike loved sports; he played baseball and was team manager for football, 
basketball and other sports while in school. He followed SHS teams avidly, 
attending games for many years, especially enjoying the 1990 Class C State 
Champion Volleyball team. He also loved music and had a large collection of 
records, cds and electronic media music. He traveled within the USA and to many 
European countries either alone or with a travel group. Mike attended Galilee 
Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Deanna Loucks, and his 
niece's husband, Gaylord Miller. Surviving Michael are his nieces, Cindy 
Massengail and Kelly Miller; nephews, Jon Loucks, Kuert Loucks and Kenneth 
(Lisa) Loucks; and many special friends and neighbors. Special thanks to his 
part-time caregivers this past year: April Steele, Susie Johns, Stacy Shattuck 
and Mary Duncan. He also appreciated the excellent staff and the care he 
received over the years at Spectrum Hospital, Sparrow Hospital, Laurels of Kent 
and SKLD Care.

Cremation has taken place at Mike's request. A memorial service is planned for 
later this spring. Those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to 
Saranac Fire Department, c/o Village of Saranac, 27 N. Bridge St., Saranac MI
