She was born April 15, 1906 in Barry County, the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Lechleitner) Bryans. She graduated from Hastings High School and from Butterworth School of Nursing in 1929. She married Dale Shetterly on June 4, 1930 in Potterville. She worked at Pennock Hospital for a year and then for several years for Dr. Hoffs and Dr. Tromp in Lake Odessa. She also worked as a migrant nurse during the summertime for five years. She worked for the Bloodmobile program and also as a School Camp nurse. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Lake Odessa, the Church Womens Society, West Sebewa Community Club and was a 4-H leader for several years. Surviving are her son Phillip (Betty) Shetterly, of Lake Odessa; daughters: Shirley (Robert) Chapman of South Rockford, Joy (Jack) Wickham, of Lake Odessa and Linda (Arnold) Kenneson, of New Fields, New Hampshire; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Mary Herbert, of Lake Odessa, Grace Walton, of Middleville and Ione Fletcher, of Muir. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale on April 11, 1992 and two brothers, John and Linden Bryans. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 1995 at the Koops Funeral Home in Lake Odessa with Rev. Keith McIver officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, and visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the 4-H foundation, the Congregational Church or a charity of one’s choice.
