July 13, 2008 DAWN SHEVELAND Dawn (Jameson) Sheveland, born on Jan. 24, 1950, passed away on June 6, 2008. Dawn always signed her e-mails with the simple word rejoicing. The rejoicing never stopped, no matter how bleak the diagnosis, no matter how difficult the pain, Her life demonstrated faith int he Lord, dependence on prayer, love for her family and visionary leadership for the cause of Christ. Most of all, her life defined that simple word; Rejoicing. Born Dawn Ellen Jameson of Portland, she earned a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University, a master's in religious education from Southwestern Baptist theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in education from the University of California. She married Gerald R.Sheveland in Dec. 1970 and taught at Saranac High School. With Jerry she served Baptist general Conference churches in Muskegon (youth pastorate) and pastorates in Estes Park, Colo., Burnsville, Minn.; San Diego, Calif.; and Littleton, Colo. She taught at Bethel Seminary St.Paul and San Diego, Denver Seminary and Point Loma Nazarene University as professor of educational Leadership, Ministry practice and Christian education. As the BGC presidents' wife, in 2003 she founded and directed LEADNET, a team ministry for church plant, missionary and pastors' wives in support of LEAD team goals. She is survived by her husband, son Jerry Jr., (Maureen); daughter Melissa (Dan) Riley; grandchildren Aidan, Caitlin and Elizabeth, all of California; mother Helen Jameson of Portland, and sisters Kay (John) Dantuma of Lake Leelanau and Bethel (James) Lanz of Porland.
