Miss Catherine Shiels of Hubbardston died Tuesday, November 1, in St. Lawrence 
hospital, Lansing.  She had been ill only a week and her death came as a shock 
to her family and friends.

Miss Shiels was born in Hubbardston, the daughter of Terrance and Catherine 
Shiels.  She attended St. John the Baptist school, Cleary Business College and 
Ypsilanti Normal, and taught music in Gaylord, Tecumseh and Homer schools.  

When St. Rita’s Social Center was established in Detroit, she was in charge of 
the social activities for several years.

She is survived by two brothers, Daniel and Terrance Shiels, of Hubbardston, 
and several nieces and nephews in Lansing.

Rev. Eugene Fox will officiate at the funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist 
church at 9:30 Friday morning.  Burial will be in Hubbardston cemetery.
