Ionia Standard - Fri. Jan. 28, 1916

John Shilton, a pioneer resident of Ionia County, died at Alsnson, Emmet 
county, this morning, and the remains were brought to Ionia for interment, 
arriving her on Tuesday morning. The funeral service was conducted at the 
Mission on West Washington Street at two o’clock in the afternoon. Deceased was 
a son of the late Daniel Shilton, and was aged 62 years at the time of death. 
He was the oldest of a family of eight children, and until the father died some 
eight years ago, he lived on the familiar Shilton farm in Orange, near the 
LeValley Church. The recent years he has made his home with a sister at 
Alanson.
