Jeremy L. Shinaver, 13, of Portland died Saturday at Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital of accidental injuries.  He was born August 1, 1978 in Grand Rapids, 
the son of Stephen and Susan Harger Shinaver.  He was a 7th grade student at 
Portland Middle School and a member of St. Patrick’s Church of Portland.

Surviving are his parents, Stephen Shinaver of Lansing and Susan Cassidy of 
Portland; two brothers, John Shinaver of St. Johns and Michael Shinaver of 
Portland; a sister, Jessica Shinaver of Portland; his grandmothers, Reva Bell 
of Ionia and Phyllis Ward of Woodland; and a step grandfather Harold Ward of 
Portland.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, with the 
Rev. Julian Reginato officiating.  Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.  The 
family will be at Gorsline-Runcimen-Neller Chapel Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 
7 to 9 p.m.  Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Monday.
