Shindorf, 72, died Friday, April 3, at her home at 521 Crooks Avenue. She had been ill for four years. She was born in Ohio, November 21, 1886, the daughter of William and Mary Kessler and came to the Miriam neighborhood to live at the age of three. She was a member of St. Mary’s church and the Rosary Society. She was married to Benjamin Shindorf at St. Mary’s church in 1920 and came to this city to live in 1948. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Roy (Marcella) Sower of this city, Mrs. Alden (Pauline) Sparks, Saranac, Mrs. Ernest (Rosemary) Van Ocker of this city and Mrs. William (Teresa Ann) Ten Eyck of Grand Rapids, one son, William of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Bruer of Evart and Mrs. Christine Scheid of this city, and two brothers, Albert Kessler of Big Rapids and Louis Kessler of Arcanum, Ohio and 18 grand children. The Rosary was recited at Huffman Funeral Home Sunday evening and funeral services were held at St. Mary’s church Monday at 10 o’clock with Rev. Fr. Charles Steves officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery. Pall bearers were Jos Shindorf, Geo Shindorf, Lawrence Shindorf, Gerald Scheid, Arthur Scheid and Andrew Breimayer.
