Shindorf of 132 Cleveland Street, Ionia, died Thursday at United Memorial Hospital’s Long Term Care Facility, Greenville. Born Dec. 20, 1910, in Belding, he was the son of Leo and Gertrude Engemann Shindorf. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Belding. A veteran of World War II, he was a past commander and life member of Olsen-Kiste VFW Post, No. 4406, Belding. He was preceded in death in 1982 by his wife Catherine. Surviving are three sons, Gerald of Athens, Ala., George of Ionia, and Phillip of Belding; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Madeline Kalhey of Yuma, Ariz., Betty Rutz of Ionia, and Sally Holbrook and Beverly Hessler of Belding; four brothers, Paul of Englewood, Fla., Earl of Muir, Bernard of Smyrna, and Henry of Ionia. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert, in 1967. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from Huffman Funeral Home, Belding, with the Rev. George Darling officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Wake service will be Friday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
