Shindorf, 91, of Belding, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at Metron of Belding. He was born Oct. 1, 1912, in Belding, the son of Leo and Gertrude Engemann Shindorf. Richard was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding American Legion and a life member of VRW Post 5065 in Sheridan. He worked as a truck driver for Gibson’s for 24 years, retiring in 1975. Richard married Florence Trierweiler on June 12, 1948, in Belding. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Tommy, Hubert, Arnold and Earl; two sisters, Eva Gunderson, Rita Bowers; and one son, Randy Shindorf. Richard is survived by his wife, Florence Trierweiler; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Steve Hustafa of Gobles; three grandchildren, Christian Shindorf, Benjamin and Noah Hustafa; brothers and sisters, Maggie Kahley of Arizona, Betty and Charles Rutz of Ionia, Sarah Holbrook of Belding, Beverly and Jack Hessler of Grattan, Paul Shindorf of Florida, Barney and Hilda Shindorf of Sheridan, Henry and Treva Shindorf of Ionia; and sister-in-law, Anna Shindorf of Muir. Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, with Father Troy Nevins officiating (please meet at church). Interment is in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Following interment a luncheon will be served at St. Mary’s Hall. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today, with a rosary prayed at 8 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church building fund.
