The Ionia County News, Thursday, December 20, 1945
Fred Shire, 61, died Wednesday morning at his farm home northeast of the 
village following several years’ illness.   He was born May 3, 1884 and had 
resided on the farm all his life.

Surviving are the widow, Hattie; a daughter, Mrs. Estiven Geiger, and two 
sisters, Miss Cora Shire of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Myrtie Wingar of Grand 
Ledge.  

Funeral services were held Friday at the Wortley and Baine chapel, with burial 
in Lakeside cemetery.
