Mrs. Hattie Shire, 72, of Lake Odessa, died Saturday evening at 8:34 p.m., 
September 21, at the Eckert’s Nursing Home in Ionia, where she had been a 
patient for several months.  Prior to that time she was cared for at the home 
of Mrs. Clara Dillenbeck for about two years.

She was born in Lake Odessa, the daughter of George and Martha Downer Clark.  
After her marriage to Fred Shire, they resided on their farm northeast of town 
for many years.  Mr. Shire died 13 years ago, December 12.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Esten (Tressie) Geiger, of Muskegon; four 
sisters, Mrs. Charles Kimmel of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Zoie Sinclair of Charlotte, 
Mrs. Florence Vandecar of Lansing, and Mrs. Nathan of Lansing; four brothers, 
Clayton Clark of Hastings, Lee and Gilbert Clark of Lansing, and Roy of Lake 
Odessa; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pickens Funeral Chapel 
with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.  Rev. A. J. Pitman officiated.
