June 6, 1986 PEWAMO- Clyde A. Shoemaker, 81, of 11301 Walker Road, Pewamo died Wednesday at the Carson City Hospital. He was born Dec. 9, 1904 in Burt, the son of Hugh and Lena Shoemaker. He graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1923 and attended the Michigan Agricultural College. He married Lou Cole in Lansing in January of 1928. In 1950 he moved to his family farm in Pewamo from Lansing. He worked at Reo Motors and Motor Wheel. He retired from the John Bean FMC, Corp. in 1965. He owned and managed a dance band in the 1930’s which played for many occasions around the state. He helped form the community bands in Eaton Rapids and Grand Ledge. He was a member of the Lyons Lodge F. and A.M. No. 37, a member of the Farm Bureau, a member of the Lansing VFW Clown Band, and a lay leader for the Pewamo United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lou; one son, Thomas of Pewamo; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Collins of Haslett and Mrs. Alice Leonard of Lansing; two brothers, Clarence of Lansing and Donald of Clare; 9 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir, the Rev. Charles Bateman officiating. Burial will be in East Plains Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society and contributions can be left at the funeral home. Additional Comments: E. Plains Cemetery.
