Shoemaker, 71, died Tuesday at Blodgett Memorial hospital in Grand Rapids. He was admitted October 9 for major surgery. Born in Corinth, Kent county, May 2, 1899, he was the son of Sherman and Anna Hefner Shoemaker. He was married to Genevee Cone of Grand Rapids on August 18, 1921 and lived in Grand Rapids where he operated the Goldfield dairy until moving to Lake Odessa in 1935. He owned the Auto Parts company in Lake Odessa until retirement in 1966. He was a member of the Methodist Adult fellowship and I.O.O.F. Lodge. Besides his wife, Genevee, he leaves two sons, Clyde R., Jr., and Robert R. of Lake Odessa; three daughters, Thelma Shoemaker of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Marion Jackson and Mrs. Rodney Young of Lake Odessa; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter of Venice, Fla., and Morse of Plainwell; sister, Mrs. George Teusink of Allegan. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman will officiate and interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
