Sentinel-Std. - Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1982

LAKE ODESSA- Mrs. Genevee Shoemaker, 82, of 745 Jordan Lake Road, Lake Odessa, 
died Sunday evening at Provincial House in Hastings.

She was born August 25, 1900, the daughter of Elbert and Catharine Holderman 
Cone and attended Grand Rapids schools.

She married Clyde R. Shoemaker on August 18, 1925 and lived in Grand Rapids 
until 1935 when they moved to Lake Odessa. There they owned and operated Lake 
Odessa Auto Salvage, which is now called Lake Odessa Auto Parts and is owned by 
their son Robert.

She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, American Legion 
Auxiliary No. 112, Lesky Dulik Post 29, Blue Star Mothers, Rebekka Lodge, 
Hospital Guile, Jolly Dozen, merry Social Club and the Tupper Lake Extension 
Club. 

Surviving are two sons, Clyde Jr. and Robert, both of Lake Odessa; two 
daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Jackson of Hastings and Mrs. Jacquelyn Young of Lake 
Odessa, one brother, Walter Cone of Salem, Oregon, one sister, Mrs. Anna Koster 
of Wayland, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Pickens-Koops Funeral 
Chapel in Lake Odessa with the Rev. Stephen Keiler officiating.

Burial will be in lakeside cemetery

A  memorial has been established for the lake Odessa Ambulance and Fire 
Department. Envelopes are available at the Funeral Home.

Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
