P. Dodson, Friday, Dec. 15. At the age of 16 she came to Hubbardston with her parents and they settled in the home now occupied by Wm. Martin, in the west side of the village. She was united in marriage to John Shonie at the age of 18 and to them was born one son, James and he was killed in the woods near his home March 31, 1908. Mr. Shonie died Feb. 4, 1916. Mrs. Shonie has lived in this village for 47 years and everybody knew her as a kind, loving mother and wife. She united with the M. E. church in this place on Easter Sunday, 1917. She leaves to mourn their loss two sisters, Mrs. W. P. Dodson, of this place and Mrs. Irwin Ludwick of Riverdale, one brother, Peter McDermond of Greenville. The funeral services were held at home of W. P. Dodson Monday afternoon, Rev. Burchfield of Carson City officiating. Mrs. Shonie choosing the text, Pa. 28, “Yes though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for thou are with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” She was laid in rest in the West Side cemetery to await the triumphant call of the righteous dead.
