The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, April 2, 1988

Elza M. Shook, 60, of 6037 Ionia Ave., Fenwick, died Thursday, March 31, 1988, 
at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Mr. was born in Stronghurst, Ill., on 
Dec. 1, 1927, the son of Roy and Mary (Hurd) Shook.  He lived in the Ionia 
area since 1955, and worked at the Atwood Brass Co. in Lowell of 21 years.

He was married to Margery Whitaker in Battle Creek.  Survivors include his 
wife; one daughter, Tina Kay Kraft of Kansas; one brother, Leroy Shook of 
Battle Creek; and two sisters, Eva Johnson of Illinois and Pearl Long of 
Nevada. 

Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac, 
with the Rev. Ronald Lanthrop officiating.  Interment will follow in Palo 
Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday and Sunday, 
from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
