She was born December 12, 1880 in Orange township and was the daughter of E.D. and Lydia Knapp Houghton. Mrs. Shook had lived at her present address 56 years, being a life long resident of Berlin and Orange townships. March 4, 1903 she married Almer M. Shook, who died October 5, 1937. She is survived by a son, Ray Shook of Ionia; two grandchildren, Linda and William Shook and a sister, Mrs. Gustav Hoffman of Ionia. Three brothers, Charles Houghton, Lyle Houghton and Bert Houghton preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at Stone-Kauffman funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m.. Rev. Roy Houghton of Lake Odessa will officiate with burial in Balcom cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 o’clock. A memorial fund has been established.
