Harley V. Townsend of the South Brethren church officiated. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. Obituary Cora I. Kepner was born February 8, 1863 and passed this life on January 11, 1940. In the year 1880 she was married to Daniel Shopbell who preceded her in death in 1929. To them was born one child, Clarence, who with two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one brother Melvin J. Kepner of Berkley, Cal., one sister, Laura B. Gardiner of Woodland, Mich., remain to mourn their loss. When a very young girl she united with the Church of the Brethren and has been a faithful communicant ever since, always assisting in alleviating suffering and comforting those who sorrowed. She contributed to her church, and at one time she and her husband donated means to build a school in China which was named the “Shopbell.” She was ever thoughtful of all in need and at all times walked humbly and faithfully before her Heavenly Father who chose to close a useful life. Burial was in the family lot at Lakeside.
