He spent his youth in the Belding area. where he began his career in the design of equipment and machines with the Gibson Refrigeration Company. On Feb. 18, 1954, he entered the Army out of Detroit near the conclusion of the Korean Conflict. He held the position of Specialist 3rd class where he earned the National Defense Service medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Parachutist Badge. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents Elwyn and Lois (June) Shore, step- brother Robert Shore, wife Joanne Shore, granddaughter Brittany Shore Smith, special friend Fran Elkins, along with several-in-laws and special friends. His friends and loving associates over the years included a number of wonderful people. He married his one and only wife, Joanne Smith, of Detroit, in 1955 in Fort Benning, GA. In March 1956, they bore their first child David, followed shortly by Lynn and Allan. Their final son, Duane Shore, would come along sometime later. David Shore and his wife Melissa Treusch currently live in Riverview, FL. Lynn and her husband, Frank Mason, remain in Belding, MI. Allan lives with his partner of many years, Eric Martinez in the San Francisco area. Duane work as an architect in Savannah, GA. For many years Jim was the companion of Fran Elkins, who remained a dear and loving inspiration until her death. Jim's grandchildren and all who are connected continue to live and grow in the places he called home. Jim worked for various companies such as the American Seating Company and Belco throughout his career. He eventually settled in as a vested member of the UAW, where he retired from Daimler Chrystler in Detroit. Florida became his final relaxing place, in the company of Dorothy Farabaugh. Dorothy's family is well grounded in the Pittsburgh, PA area where she awaits the chance to join her beloved angel in the future. Son David and Debbie Grunow had two children, Brittany and Spencer Shore. Sadly, Brittany passed away recently leaving husband Derek and daughter Nora. Spencer, with former partner Nikki, have a child Emerson. Lynn and Frank have two children, Marty and Richard Mason. Marty and Jamie Fletcher Mason have to children Payton Jo and Jackson James. Richard and Trisha Slocum have (Son Brooks) on the way. Allan and Erick have no children but share their love with their pets, including their border collie Shetan. Duane remains single and adores the winds and ways of travel and adventures, as did his father.
