April 21, 1927 MRS. EMMA SHORT PASSED TUESDAY P.M. Many Years Resident Here. Great Lover of Flowers. Lived to Age 0f 87 Years. Mrs. Emma Short who has been very poorly for a number of years passed away Tuesday at 12:30 P.M. at her home on north Fourth Ave. She has been gradually failing all winter, losing her sight and hearing but able to get around the house the greater part of the time. She had been looking forward to the easter caroling which she enjoyed for past years. She was a member of the M.E. church when it was at Bonanza. She is a charter member of the W.C.T. U. and the Women's Foreign Missionary Society. Her father died when she was but a babe and a married sister cared for her until she grew to young womanhood. While visiting friends in Michigan she met Henry Short and begun house keeping on what is now the Bowerman farm north of town. Mr.Short died the same year the D.L.&.N railroad was built through this section of the country. About a year after the death of her husband she leased the farm and moved to the place on North Fourth Avenue which was a boarding house. This house was moved back to its' present location and remodeled. It was the first residence in that part of town.
