Freeman Shotwell, 93, of Portland died Thursday afternoon at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Ralph Benedict of rural Portland.  Mr. Shotwell was born in New
York state and was brought to Michigan to the same vicinity when he was but a
small child.  He was a life member of the Portland Grange and the oldest in the
membership of the Methodist church of Portland.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Nettie Benedict, Mrs. Marian Hathaway and
Miss Edith Shotwell, all of Portland vicinity; three grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Neller funeral
home in Portland.  The Rev. Park Newcombe will officiate and burial will be at
Portland cemetery.
