Prominent Sebewa Farmer Drops Dead

In the field while dragging, Frank Showerman Succumbs to heart trouble

His Brother Hugh Came Hurrying To His Side as Deceased Breathed His Last

Frank Showerman, a well known and business like farmer of Sebewa township, was 
found dying, by his brother Hugh, in the field in which he was dragging last 
Friday morning.  Mr. Showerman arose and began his work at the usual time, 
seemingly in his usual health.  His brother was working in the same field but 
they did not meet except on going around the field, and he was greatly 
surprised upon making the rounds to see his brother lying upon the ground.  He 
hastened to his side and saw Frank gasp a few times but no word was uttered.  
He was carried to the house and Dr. Peacock of Sunfield was immediately called 
but it was too late.  Funeral services were conducted at his home by Rev. D.E. 
Millard of Portland and interment was made in the Sebewa township cemetery.

The deceased was the son of the late Lucuis E. Showerman, leaves a wife and 
four-year-old daughter and was the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. O.V. Showerman here.

Mr. Showerman was 45 years of age and one of the directors of the Farmer’s 
Mutual Fire Insurance Co., of Ionia and formerly treasurer of Sebewa township.

Mr. Showerman, who was a large and healthy appearing man had been troubled with 
his heart for some time back and had been advised to be careful in his work.  
He being somewhat behind this spring in his farm work on account of bad 
weather, decided to help out in getting ready some corn ground and this seemed 
to be more than he was able to stand.
