The Portland Review, Tuesday, January 7, 1919

Mrs. Carrie Shuart, widow of Frank Shuart, died at the home of her brother, 
John Reed, in Portland, Thursday morning.  She resided in Sebewa for some time 
and after her son Adelbert was called to war she came here to live with her 
brothers, who are Willard, John and Rufus Reed.  Her sisters are Mrs. Henry 
David, Eaton Rapids, and Mrs. S. Trumpower, Ludington.  Mrs. David was here 
before her sister’s death and helped care for her.  

Funeral services were held Saturday, Rev. T. F. Galt officiating.  Mrs. Shuart 
was 58 years old and was born near Northfield, Mich.
