Pioneer of Portland Dead

Portland:  Feb. 5—Mrs. Norton Shuart was buried yesterday, the funeral being 
largely attended, as she was one of the oldest residents of Portland.  Her 
death which was due to paralysis, occurred a few days ago as she was ascending 
the steps of the Carnegie library, where she was to deliver an address on the 
Japanese question.  Mrs. Shuart had lived in Portland since 1855.  She is 
survived by her husband and three grown children.
