Charles Fullmer of First Methodist church officiating. Following services the body is to be cremated at the request of relatives. A native of Germany, he was a member of the German Army during World War I from 1914 through 1918. Prior to moving to his present Ionia address in 1935 he made his home in Easton township. Married to Anna Schultes in Switzerland in 1908, she preceded him in death in 1944. Surviving is one son, Oscar Schumann, Jr. of Pontiac; a daughter, Mrs. Melanie Knellwolf of Le Havre, France, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Schumann was discovered on the floor of his home Tuesday afternoon in a weakened condition after Ionia city police were alerted the man had not been seen or heard from by friends for nearly a week.
