Funeral was held at the Pewamo Methodist church, Rev. Mather officiating. Burial was made in the West Plains cemetery. Mr. Shumway was born at Chatham Four Corners, N.Y., May 11, 1844. In 1869 came with his parents to Michigan, locating two miles east of Pewamo which place remained the family home for a great many years. He was married to Miss Henrietta Rogers, of Matherton, on November 27, 1873, the young couple making their home a mile and a quarter east of Pewamo, where they have since resided. Besides the widow he is survived by six children, one sister, 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
