Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2 Jun 1941

James L. Shumway, 66-year-old former Ionia resident, died at 5 a.m. Monday at
the Cottage hospital at Grosse Pointe following a brief illness.  He moved from
Ionia in 1912 to Detroit and shortly after that moved to Grosse Pointe where he
has since made his home.  

Surviving are the wife, three daughters, Mrs. John L. Koerber of Detroit, Mrs.
Harold Stamm of Detroit and Mrs. Jack Wallace of Lansing and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at St. M??? church in Detroit
with Rev. Fr. Henigan officiating.  The body will arrive in Ionia at 4:50 p.m.
Wednesday afternoon and grave services will be held immediately at the family
lot at Highland Park cemetery.  The Ionia Elks lodge will have charge of the
grave service.
