Ionia Daily Sentinel, 4 Feb 1935

John Carl Shunk, 51, of Muir, died Sunday evening at 8 o’clock of heart 
disease.  He was taken suddenly ill Saturday afternoon and his condition had 
not been considered serious until Sunday afternoon.

He was born in Ohio in 18?? and he had lived there most of his life until he 
came to Lyons township about 20 years ago.  He was married in 1911 to Miss 
Lheonia O’Dell, also of Ohio, and they have lived in Muir for the past 12 
years.  He was employed for a number of years at the Decker garage and he quit 
there about three years ago.  He is survived by the widow and three small 
children at home, Charles, Geraldine and Betty Ann.

Funeral services will be held from the Shaw funeral chapel Wednesday afternoon 
at 2 o’clock.  Interment will be at the Muir cemetery.
