May 23, 1929 The funeral services for Jacob Shutt, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Victor Kimball, of Detroit, Wednesday morning will be held from the Muir Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon at 2:30, Eastern Standard Time. The interment will be in the Muir cemetery. Dr. Willard K. Spencer will be in charge of the services. Mr. Shutt was born in Ohio 80 years ago, and came to Michigan when Mrs. Kimball was a small child. Although he has spent several winters in Detroit with his daughter, he regarded the vicinity of Muir his home, and spent the summers there. The past winter he had been in poor health but was able to be about the house and attend church. Tuesday he was about the house as usual and seemed no worse but was found dead in bed Wednesday morning by Mrs. Kimball as she went to call him. At the time of his death he still owned the little farm northwest of Muir which had been his home for so many years before his retirement. He was also a butcher by trade, and in years past, when practically every farmer cured his own meat, was seen many cold mornings with his paraphernalia going to some rural home where he was to prepare the summer's supply of meat for the family. He was considered an authority on the methods of curing the different kinds of meat. About 35 years ago he lost one of his legs in an accident when he was buzzing wood. late in life he became converted in the United Brethren denomination, and his every action and work reflected the beautiful Christ-like faith he professed. Mrs. Shutt died several years ago. He leaves, besides his daughter, Mrs. Kimball, another daughter, Mrs. Emma Ely, who is in Indiana and will be unable to attend the services and a son Harry of Akron, O.
