He was a soldier of Civil War, enlisted when 18 years of age. He received is discharge in 1865. He was married to Francis Gillett of Odessa. To this union were born eight children of which three daughters are left to mourn his loss, Mrs.Anna Hazel of Lake Odessa, Mich., Mrs Ethel Jackson of Lansing, Mrs.Ellen Hulliberger of Marion, Mich.; also 26 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. He had sent the most of his life in the vicinity of Lake Odessa, the last few years living at Temple, Claire County, Mich., with his nephews, where he died. His desire was that he be brought to the Lakeside cemetery for burial. Funeral services were conducted at the Undertaking chapel Tuesday morning by Rev. A.H. Lash, assisted by Rev. Isaac Mourer.
