L. Silvernail died at his home in Grand Rapids on Friday death being caused by tuberculosis of the tongue. The remains arrived here from Grand Rapids at 11:17 on Monday morning, and were met at the train by a number of his brother fraters of Ionia lodge No. 36. F.&A.M. Other friends, also, were at the depot to meet the bereaved wife and children. The remains were taken at once to Highland Park for interment, where he was given burial with Masonic form. Alpheus L. Silvernail, whose burial took place here Monday, was for five years a teacher in the Ionia City schools, and had been engaged in educational work most of his life. For several years his home had been at Grand Rapids, and he had been engaged in different work. He was a member of the Episcopal church, and was affiliated with Ionia lodge No. 36 F. & A.M., which tendered its kind offices to the afflicted family, as also did the Grand Rapids Masonic lodges. Mr. Silvernail was born at Leslie, Ingham county, Michigan, June 24, 1857, and resided there until about 15 years old, when he went to Tompkins, Leslie high school. He was married at Saranac when he was 21 to Miss Capitola Bush, who, with one son, aged 10 years, survive him. His death was due to consumption of the blood, and through an illness lasting three or four years he was a very patient sufferer. He carried an insurance of $8,000.
