While in infancy was left an orphan dependent entirely on the charity of relatives. When a boy he served an apprentiship and learned the shoe making trade, which business he followed in after years. In early manhood he enlisted in the Mexican war, from which he received a honorable discharge. Some years later he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Warden, from this union two children were born, Stollington, now deceased, and Libbie, still living. He was married to his late widow in 1888, at Albion. Deceased has not enjoyed a healthful life for a good many years. His last sickness set in in June last from which he suffered much and died on Dec 25, 1902 at the advanced age of 76 years, 10 months and 25 days.
