Services Held for Gertrude Simkins

Miss Gertrude Simkins, 85, Route 1, Clarksville, passed away Thursday morning at
the Ionia Manor following a long illness.  She was born at Clarksville May 1,
1885, the daughter of Lawrence and Frances Simkins and was a graduate of Lake
Odessa High School and Ferris Institute.  She taught in public schools at
Clarksville, Wayland, Tustin and Grand Rapids.

Surviving are three sisters, Miss June Simkins of Bradenton, Fla.; Mrs. Dorothy
Paulsen of Clarksville and Mrs. Paul (Gretchen) Benedict of Livonia, and one
nephew, Marcus Simkins of Remus.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 o’clock Saturday forenoon at Pickens Funeral
Chapel at Clarksville.  Rev. Elwood Norton officiated, with burial in
Clarksville Cemetery.
