Oct. 28, 1989 HARRY A. SIMMON IONIA - Harry A. Simmon, 85, formerly of Ionia, died Thursday at Kent Community Hospital, Grand Rapids. Born June 26, 1904, in Clinton County, he was the son of Frank and Eleanora Fox Simmon. He attended Pewamo schools and after serving as a rural mail carrier was employed by Conner Auto Supply in Greenville for approximately 35 years. He retired in 1969. He was married to the former Mary Irene Navin of Carson City; she died July 1, 1973. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's church all his adult life. He is survived by two sons, H. Richard and Thomas J. Simmons, both of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Bernita and Florence Simmon, both of Kalamazoo. A sister, Mary, also preceded him in death. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at SS. Peter and Paul's Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will be at Myers memorial Chapel Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. A memorial has been established for SS.Peter and Paul's Academy, in care of the funeral chapel.
