The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, October 25, 1945
Funeral services for John Wesley Simmons, who died at the Ionia County 
Memorial hospital Saturday, October 20 after a short illness, were held 
Tuesday afternoon from the Myers funeral home.  Interment was at the Balcom 
cemetery.

Bearers were three sons, Claude, Vern and Lynn, and three son-in-laws, Clinton 
Ries, John Fitzgerald and Herman Hall.

Attending from away were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. Hookstra 
and daughters, William Simmons and son John, Mrs. Russell Havens and daughter, 
Mr. and RMs. Milton Farr, Miss Ethel Farr, Frnak Farr, Mrs. Elsie Spreague, 
Mr. and MRs. Clair Beach and Mr. and Mrs. Burton Morey of Grand Rapids; Mr. 
and Mrs. Herman Hall and daughter Nancy of Flint; Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Simmons of 
Whitmore Lake, Mrs. May Barranger of Kalamazoo, Albert Wilkinson of 
Cannonsburg, and Captain and Mrs. Richards of Indianapolis, Ind.
