Miss Lena Simmons died in St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand Rapids, Tuesday night, Nov.
11.  With Mrs. Louise Townsend she had been in Grand Rapids and at the bus
station on her way home to Ionia she became suddenly ill and was taken by
ambulance to the hospital.

Miss Simmons lived at 155 E. Main St. with Mrs. Carbaugh, and had been employed
for the past two years in Halsted’s gift and flower shop.  She is a member of
the LeValley church and of Mrs. C.B. Morall’s Sunday school class at the Ionia
Methodist church.  She was born June 14, 1887, in Montcalm county, but had lived
in Ionia many years.

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Friday afternoon, Nov. 14, from the
Ionia Methodist church.  Rev. Dwight M. Kitch will officiate and burial will be
in Balcom cemetery.
