Leaves One Son and Two Daughters. A beautiful service was held at the Congregational Church Wednesday, March 6th for the Mother of a former family of this village. The sermon was an impressive one preached by the pastor, Rev. George J. Start and the remains of the mother, Mrs. Emma Simmons lay amid a profusion of beautiful flowers. Mrs. Start and Mrs. T. M. Martindale sang two beautiful selections. The Rebekah ladies acted as escort. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. OBITUARY Emma C. Weiss was born in Casselton township, Michigan on July 28, 1857 and departed this life on March 4, 1929 at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 4 days. On October 4, 1877 she was united in marriage to Van Simmons, who died in 1912. To this union four children were born, LeRoy, now of Grand Rapids, Glenn, who died in 1900, Mrs. Delilah McLaughlin and Orma Simmons of Lansing. She moved to Woodland in 1884, resided there until 1906 when the family came to Lake Odessa, living there until ten years ago, when she moved to Lansing. While in lake Odessa she was a member of the Rebekah and the Maccabee lodges and attended the Congregational church. She leaves to mourn their loss, the son and two daughters, two granddaughters and two sisters, Mrs. A. D. Squires and Mrs. Charles Mater, both of Traverse City.
