Simon, 91, of Lyons Township passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002 in Mesa, AZ. He was born on Dec. 21, 1910, the son of Michael and Mamie (Koelzer) Simon. Clarence was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #2168, was a life-long farmer, and enjoyed hunting and gardening. Clarence was preceded in death by his first wife, Elda; sons James and David Simon; granddaughter, Jacquelyn Simon. Surviving are his wife Margorie of Portland; daughter Rosemary (Alvin) Spitzley of Mulliken; sons Tom (Geri) Simon of Lyons; sister-in-law, Helen Simon of Muir; step-daughters Judy (Glen) Weaver of Colorado and Nancy (Thomas) Thelen of Lyons; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren. The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Shamaun Beas, Associate Pastor, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Rite of Committal following in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Pewamo. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 1301 E. Grand River Ave., Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with rosaries being prayed at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. both Sunday and Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Father Flohe Foundation in memory of Clarence Simon. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
