Joseph Anthony Simon, of Westphalia, age 78, passed away on Nov. 9, 2008.

He was born March 3, 1930 in Westphalia, the son of Anthony and Dora (Cook) 
Simon. Joseph was a member of. St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westphalia, a 
member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the St. Joseph Society. He 
enjoyed playing cards, fishing and loved his family very much.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary; children Don (Theresa) Simon, Marilyn 
(Joe) Peckins, Jerry (Jean) Simon, Dan (Terri) Simon, Dave (Debbi) Simon, Chris 
(Patty) Simon, Paul (Mary Lou) Simon, Teresa (Kevin) Schnieder, Roger (Robyn) 
Simon, Sharon (Scott) Brown, Eric (Susie) Simon, Mary Jo (Mark) Pattison; 30 
grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Hiliary (Thelma) Simon; sisters, 
Marian Wieber, Rita Pung and Juliann (Lester) Miller and sisters-in-law, Anna 
Thelen, Agnes Schneider and Janet (Marvin) Fedewa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Alvin, Casper, Julius and 
Walter Simon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Cecilio Reyna at 10:30 
a.m., Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite 
of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive 
friends 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The rosary will be 
prayed at 8 p.m. and on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9p.m., at the St. Mary’s Funeral 
Chapel the rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a Scriptural Wake Service will 
be held at 8 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Scharuben-Lehman Funeral 
Home.
