Mary Ann Simon, age 68, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2004 surrounded by 
her loving family. She was born on April 17, 1935 in Portland, MI the daughter 
of George and Rose (Smith) Pung.

Mrs. Simon had a life long devotion to the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 
of which she was a member. Mary Ann's grandchildren were her true love in 
life. She married John F. Simon on September 17, 1955 and together they shared 
48 years together. She worked at the Harwood Insurance Agency and also was 
employed by the Meijer’s Corporation in Ionia for 22 years. 

Surviving are her husband, John F.; children, Karen (Robert) Huhn of Belding, 
Douglas (Pamela) Simon of Grand Rapids, and Daniel (Victoria) Simon of Ionia; 
grandchildren, Nick, Mike, and Ryan Huhn, Joshua and Jacob Simon, Hope, Holly, 
Heather, and Heidi Simon; sisters, Genevieve Droste of Westphalia and Collen 
(James) Hayden of Saranac; brother, Charles (Ethelyn) Pung of Ionia. 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Melvin Fox, Pastor at 
11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2004 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 
Ionia. Rite of Committal will take place in the Spring in Mt. Olivet Catholic 
Cemetery, Ionia. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman 
Funeral Home, Cook Chapel, 220 Rich St., Ionia from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday and 2-
4 and 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Sunday. For those 
desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Ss. Peter and Paul Educational 
Fund, in memory of Mrs. Mary Ann Simon.
