Herbert Simons, Born in Portland, Dies in Ionia

Herbert S. Simons, 57, who was born and raised in Portland, died at Ionia 
County Memorial hospital Friday evening, after an illness of several days.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Simons, and the family resided on the 
North hill here many years. For the past 21 years he had worked as a sign 
painter for the county road commission, and was the first president of the road 
commission employees union.

Funeral services were held at SS Peter & Paul church, Ionia, Tuesday morning 
and burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Ionia.

Surviving are the wife, Bertha; a son, Richard, in the U.S. army; a daughter, 
Mrs. Jack Roberts, Ionia, and four sisters.
