C. Sindlinger, 79, a retired dairyman and lifelong resident of Sebewa Center, died at his home on route one, Portland, Saturday afternoon, October 31. He was born the son of the late Christian and Elizabeth Sindlinger at the farm home, August 24, 1880. He attended Sebewa Center and Portland high school. Mr. Sindlinger was a lover of horses and in his early life, raised them. Later he and his brother, Willard, went into the dairy business raising Holstein- Friesian cattle, and at one time had the largest farm of its kind in Ionia county. They were well-known as the Sindlinger Brothers. He was married to Nora A. Ritenburgh, December 23, 1913, by the Rev. A.E. Wynn at Sunfield. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary last December. From early youth Mr. Sindlinger was a member of the Sebewa Center Methodist church and served in several capacities. He is survived by his wife, Nora; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lucile) Warren of Ionia, Mrs. Wayne (Margaret) Brown of Sunfield, and Mrs. Blanchard (Mildred) Rice of Portland; six grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Louise Smith of Gobles, and several nephews. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday from the Mapes funeral home in Sunfield at 2 p.m. The Rev. Victor E. Jones of Hickery Corners will officiate and burial will be at Sebewa Corners cemetery. Bearers will be John Lich, Stanley Sayer, Alton Gunn, Wilfred Gierman, Homer Downing and Clyde Avery.
