Sissem, 79 years old, died Sunday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Van Camp of Berlin, with whom he has made his home for the last two years. Mr. Sissem was one of Ionia’s oldest residents, having lived here since he was twelve years old until he moved into Berlin. His wife died eleven years ago. Three daughters and four sons survive him. “Uncle Henry” Sissem, the pioneer shoemaker; who did not know him? And to know him was to respect him. The funeral was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Evangelical church, with burial in Oakhill cemetery.
