Skinner, 85, of 9511 Towner Road, died Sunday. He was born May 12, 1894 in Antrim County, Michigan, the son of Issac and Myrtle Baughman Skinner. He was married March 23, 1918 in Park Congregational Church in Grand Rapids to Mary Miller. They celebrated their 61st anniversary in March of this year. Mr. Skinner was a member of the Portland United Methodist Church; a life member of the Portland F & AM 31; Portland Chapter of R & AM 39; and D.A.V. Post No. 2 of Grand Rapids. He was Past Master of the Big Rapids F & AM 171; a member and past patron of Portland OES NO. 258; member of the American Legion Post 129; member and past master of Danby Grange 185; member of the Ionia County Pomona Grange; member of the Michigan State Grange and National Grange; and a member of AARP senior citizens, Ionia County Farm Bureau. He served on the Danby Township Board of Review for several years and was a World War I veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Skinner was a retired decorator and painter and retired from Kellogg Center at Lansing in 1959. Surviving besides his wife, Mary, is one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Audrie) Christensen of Freeport, Ill.; two brothers, Adelbert Skinner and Floyd Skinner, both of Grand Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Enda Hamilton of Wyoming and Mrs. Charlotte Allen of Chicago; two grandsons, Robert Christensen of Freeport, Ill., and David Christensen of Columbus, Ohio; one granddaughter, Mrs. Gary Underwood of Rand, West Virginia; and three great-grandsons. One son, Robert, preceded him in death in 1956. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Neller Funeral Home with Rev. Dow Chamberlain officiating. The family will be at the funeral home Monday form 7 to 8:30 p.m. Masonic services will be at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Danby Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Howard Wilcox, Clyde Ellison, George Frye, William Ingraham, Howard Challender and Russell Curtis.
