Skinner, 43, of 508 Roosevelt St., died unexpectedly November 24 at Veterans’ Hospital, Marion, Ind., where he had been a patient for the past five months. Mr. Skinner born April 18, 1921 in Gowen, lived in Belding for the last 18 years and had owned and operated a barber shop for 17 years. A veteran of WWII where he served with the US Army for five years with overseas duty, Mr. Skinner belonged to Central Methodist church and Belding Lodge 355 F.& A.M. On August 14, 1949, he was married in Gowen to Elaine Nielsen who survives. A son, Terry, preceded him in death in 1952. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Janet, 11, and a son, Neil, 9; one sister, Mrs. John (Meldred) Carey, Grand Blanc; one brother, Howard Skinner, Columbus, Ohio. Services were held Friday at Central Methodist Church with the Rev. Ralph Dean, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was in Little Denmark cemetery, Gowen. Mr. Skinner was at the Huffman Funeral Home until noon, Friday. Pallbearers were Roy Tift, Harold Fitzner, Robert Allen, Kenneth Wittenbach, Ted Vlahas and Maynard McPherson.
