Orville James Slagle, 85, of Saranac, passed away Aug. 6, 2014, in Saranac.  He 
was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Hudson, Michigan, the son of Levi and Emma (Roth) 
Slagle.

Orville married Maxine Willison March 31, 1950, in Clarksville, Michigan.  He 
was a member of Gold Canyon United Methodist Church in Arizona.  He worked at 
GM for 25 years until retiring in 1990.

Orville is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Maxine Slagle of Saranac; 
daughters, JoAnn Bussell of Florida and Judy (Burt) Van Bennekom of Saranac; 
grandchildren, Nicholas Bussell of Lowell, Ryan Van Bennekom of Saranac and 
Chad Van Bennekom of Saranac.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son, 
James Paul Slagle in 1976; and brothers, LaVerne, Dewayne and Donald.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac with Rev. Paul Gess officiating.  Interment Saranac Cemetery.  
Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial 
contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice.
