MAXINE SLAGLE 1930-2017
Maxine Elna (Willison) Slagle, age 87 of Saranac, MI. passed away April 16, 
2017 at Fountain View in Lowell, MI. She was born March 5, 1930, in 
Clarksville, MI the daughter of Walter and Helen (Karrar) Willison. Maxine 
married Orville Slagle on March 31, 1950, in Clarksville. He preceded her in 
death in 2014.

She was a member of Gold Canyon United Methodist Church in Arizona and 
Galilee Baptist in Saranac. Maxine began her career as a Linotype Operator at 
McCarty Communications and the Saranac Advertiser.She also worked for the 
Lowell Ledger and Borup Printing. Maxine loved to travel with her husband, 
visiting 48 states.

Maxine is survived by her children, Joni Bussell of Cocoa, Fl. Judy 
VanBennekom and Burt VanBennekom of Saranac; grandchildren, Nick Bussell and 
Ann Luchinger of Lowell, Ryan VanBennekom of Saranac, Chad VanBennekom of 
Grand Rapids; brothers, Donald (Lois) Willison of Saranac, Jack (Linda) 
Willison of Nashville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 
sister Janet McCaul and son James Paul Slagle in 1976.

Funeral services for Maxine will be held on Friday, April 21st 11 a.m. at 
Lake Funeral Home in Saranac with Pastor Paul Gess officiating. Interment at 
eh Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral 
home. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Saranac Fire
