IONIA- M. Genevieve Slater, 80, of Ionia died Monday at the Ionia Manor. She 
was born the daughter of Fred and Glendora Mallison Edinger, on October 27, 
1912, in Berlin Township.

She attended the Lake Odessa schools. She worked at the Pesche Meat Packing Co. 
in Ionia and she worked at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.

She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son Robert of Leroy; three daughters, Dolores (Dee) Cook 
of Fenwick, Marlene Hoppough of Lake Odessa, and Velma Ludwick of Ionia; 20 
grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Keith Slater; one daughter, one 
sister; and one brother.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at the First 
United Methodist church in Ionia, with the Rev. Lawrence Hodge officiating.

Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Lake Odessa.

Memorials have been established for the First United Methodist Church, Memorial 
Fund, Ionia Area Hospice and Ionia County Memorial Hospital, in care of the 
Cook Funeral Home, Ionia.
