IVAN SLATER
Ivan Slater, 38, died at his home at 210 Grant street, South Ionia, Thursday morning
at 2:10 o'clock after a five-year illness.

He was born in Campbell township December 6, 1906, the son of Garfield and Cassie 
Slater. On March 2, 1932, he married Olive Heintzelman of Sebewa and they moved to
Ionia at that time. He has been employed by the Ionia county road commission for the past
18 years.

He is survived by the wife, Olive; two sons, Lewis, 15, and Duane, 9 one daughter
Marilyn, 7:  his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Slater of Clarksville; one brother Elwin
Slater, of Clarksville; and two sisters, Mrs. Marion Howlett and Mrs. Esta Stuart, both of
Clarksville. Funeral services will be conducted from the Boynton funeral home Saturday, October
18, at 2 p.m. The Rev. A. R. Kuehn will officiate. Interment will be in Clarksville
cemetery.
