He was born March 24, 1954 in Lansing the son of Arthur E. and Jean L. (Hopkins) Slaughter. He went on to marry Deborah De Long Dec. 22, 1990 in Belleville, she survives him in Ionia. He was a very active member of Shiloh Community Church and was employed with Department of Corrections for 23 years. He is survived by his mother, Jean Slaughter of Lansing; his two precious daughters, Arianne Joy Slaughter and Mariah Hope Slaughter, both at home; one brother, Steven Slaughter of Ionia; one sister, Elaine (Calvin) Herron of Reno, China; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Slaughter will be 11 a.m., Wednesday at Shiloh Community Church with Rev. Kenneth Harger, Rev. Kendall Harger and Rev. Jamey Nichols officiating. Visitation was 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday and will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
